A 43-yar-old male heroin addict underwent mitral valve replacement with a Carpentier-Edwards pericardial xenograft (Baxter Healthcare Corp., Irvine, CA, USA) because of acute staphylococcal endocarditis. Two months after this surgery, he was readmitted because of deep venous thrombosis in the right leg, secondary to a mycotic popliteal aneurysm. Aortography (Figure 1Go) disclosed multiple aneurysms of the supraceliac aorta and the aortic bifurcation. Supraceliac aortic patching and aortic bifurcation replacement were carried out successfully using cryopreserved aortic homografts.
