A Look Into The Region

The Al Faisaliah Center in Riyadh, the modern capital city of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia adorns the cover of this issue. The King Faisal Foundation, a philanthropic organization, envisioned the mixed-use development in the heart of Riyadh to boost its income for humanitarian and cultural activities. The complex integrating a striking 267-meter high business tower, five-star hotel, luxury apartments, retail mall and banquet hall was built at a cost of US$320 million and has been referred to as a "statuesque symbol of progress" for the capital and country. Although ace British architect Lord Foster spearheaded the modern design, local contractors were employed for construction and outfitting validating their expertise as being on par with the world's best. The center located in the heart of Riyadh's business district inspires awe in all who set eyes upon it.
